February 2001February 16, 2001 Cold. It was cold again. We're on a bill with Chuck Marten and Ryan from Mr DNA. I was interested in hearing Chuck Marten, but we're on before them, and leaving equipment in the cars was unattended was not something I wanted to do. It was a show. Dave's brother and some of his friends came out to see us, so we had our cheering section - and the friends/family of the other bands seemed to pay attention as well. I don't know. I was looking at the floor most of the time. It was Friday and I had been through work hell previously, so I simply did not have the energy. It was a show - we played our set - we moved on. Yes this is unenthusiastic, but I seem to recall when shows were a big deal to see. I'd go see three or four bands that I had never heard of - and there'd be tons of people there as well. Now - it's diluted. It's safe. It's crap. But who is to blame? If you see shock rockers on a small stage, you laugh at them - if you see theatrics in a tiny venue, you feel embarrassed for the band - if you hear good music - maybe you'll come back and see them. Things are going to be changing in Number Six - and who really knows what that will be. I still want to see Chuck Marten though.
